WHO WE ARE: Our Company

Edible Garden City champions the grow-your-own-food movement in cities around the world, starting with Singapore.

BUILD. Foodscaping

We design, build and maintain food gardens in tropical urban Singapore, which include restaurants, hotels, schools, residences, and more. Over the last 7 years, we have completed more than 260 food gardens in Singapore, in notable locations such as Marina Bay Sands, Resort World Sentosa, Raffles City Rooftop, Fairmont Hotel; Six Senses; OUE Downtown Gallery; Pathlight School, just to name a few. We supply fresh herbs, flowers, and vegetables to food and beverage outlets, as well as to families through our Citizen Box programme. Growing Local, Fresh and Social is our mantra. Learn more

OUR QUEENSTOWN FARM. A sustainable farming model

Urban farming is the future of cities. Our urban farming model is a community of local farmers that produces fresh, tasty and nutritious harvests that are available to everyone living in the city. Learn more

At Edible Garden City, we are working hard to create a better tomorrow for our community and the world, one leaf at a time. It’s not an easy task, and it requires a lot of support as we learn and grow as an urban farming startup in space-tight Singapore. And so, we are extremely thankful and honoured to be a DBS Foundation Social Enterprise Grant Awardee 2017.

Their invaluable support has made it possible for us to innovate and create a totally new microgreens system, with recirculating irrigation that uses 90% less water and 50% less substrate. It is also much simpler for our farmers with special needs to learn and use, and we can now focus more on other tasks like expanding our green spaces and creating fresh new farm-to-you products!

The support from Temasek Foundation Ecosperity has enabled us to test-bed our vision for the Future of Farming in Singapore. We have embarked on building a two-storey farm at our Queenstown farm. The container farm will integrate different farming systems to grow a myriad of nutritious herbs, vegetables and mushrooms, with minimal waste.

The container farm is also designed to be a plug-and-play system, and a possible solution for activating under-utilised rooftop and car park spaces into productive land. These climate-controlled mobile farms can also be placed in housing estates, providing conveniently-located employment to marginalised communities, as well as providing easy access to local produce  to all Singaporean residents.

In 2016, UBS wanted to support social enterprises that are helping to address society’s most pressing challenges. Edible Garden City identified issues in food security, food production efficiency, manpower resourcing in agriculture and awareness of farming, and presented our innovative solutions to UBS.

Edible Garden City's closed loop farming solution has been selected as one of the 25 projects (out of 1,175 submissions) to be showcased at the Dubai Expo 2020, under the Global Best Practice Programme.

The selected projects are aimed at tackling global issues like hunger, climate change and social inequality, and we are excited to be given the unique opportunity to share about our solution, and to learn from organisations and governments from around the world.⁣⁣

Meet the Team
Our team is an assemblage of people from all walks of life, who simply love to grow green things, and who passionately want to find a solution to Singapore’s food security and waste management challenges.

We believe in doing all the hard work ourselves, whether it be growing, teaching, shovelling compost, heavy lifting, or even clearing the trash.

We are a ragtag group of engineers, chefs, businessmen, young graduates, retirees, adults with special needs and so on. Our team is anchored by talented and committed locals, and complemented by foreign experts with global perspectives. Collectively, we have more than 100 years of farming experience and knowledge.
