2021 PRESIDENT'S AWARD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT (ORGANISATION)
We are honoured to have been recognised with the
2021 President’s Award for the Environment (Organisation).
The award gives us renewed motivation to continue working hard towards food resilience, particularly in encouraging Singaporeans to grow our own food.
We are proud to represent the agriculture industry here in Singapore. We are a small but growing industry that is focused on achieving the 30 by 30 goal - to grow 30% of Singapore's nutritional needs by 2030. Food resilience and how it relates to sustainability is an important consideration to make, and we want to highlight the balance that we can make – natural farming and indoor climate-controlled agriculture can work hand-in-hand.

The selected projects are aimed at tackling global issues like hunger, climate change and social inequality, and we are excited to be given the unique opportunity to share about our solution, and to learn from organisations and governments from around the world.
DBS FOUNDATION GRANT AWARDEE
At Edible Garden City, we are working hard to create a better tomorrow for our community and the world, one leaf at a time. It’s not an easy task, and it requires a lot of support as we learn and grow as an urban farming startup in space-tight Singapore. And so, we are extremely thankful and honoured to be a DBS Foundation Social Enterprise Grant Awardee 2017.
Their invaluable support has made it possible for us to innovate and create a totally new microgreens system, with recirculating irrigation that uses 90% less water and 50% less substrate. It is also much simpler for our farmers with special needs to learn and use, and we can now focus more on other tasks like expanding our green spaces and creating fresh new farm-to-you products!
TEMASEK FOUNDATION ECOSPERITY GRANT
The support from Temasek Foundation Ecosperity has enabled us to test-bed our vision for the Future of Farming in Singapore. We have embarked on building a two-storey farm at our Queenstown farm. The container farm will integrate different farming systems to grow a myriad of nutritious herbs, vegetables and mushrooms, with minimal waste.
The container farm is also designed to be a plug-and-play system, and a possible solution for activating under-utilised rooftop and car park spaces into productive land. These climate-controlled mobile farms can also be placed in housing estates, providing conveniently-located employment to marginalised communities, as well as providing easy access to local produce to all Singaporean residents.
