German European School Singapore

Education (Schools)

The German European School Urban Sensory Garden offers a welcome break from traditional classrooms. By exploring the garden's diverse features, students can develop essential skills like physical activity and fine motor development. This immersive environment fosters a love of learning and a connection with the natural world, enriching the educational experience for all.

The gardening plot transforms the concept of "farm-to-table" into a tangible learning experience. Students get their hands dirty, sowing, nurturing, and harvesting leafy green vegetables. Witnessing their hard work transformed into a delicious meal fosters a deeper appreciation for food. Strategically placed plants offer a variety of shapes, textures, and colors for exploration.

For a fun and educational twist, the plot features easy-to-grow plants representing diverse cultures. Green Shiso, a popular ingredient in Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese cuisine, sits alongside Green Bayam, a staple in Indonesian and Malaysian dishes. This not only sparks culinary curiosity but also serves as a springboard for discussions about cultural intelligence, preparing students to be well-rounded global citizens.
