Infant Jesus Homes and Children Centre

Community (Healthcare, Social Services)

The Infant Jesus Homes and Children’s Centres (IJHCC) a registered charity organisation with Institution of Public Character (IPC) status endorsed by the Catholic Archdiocese of Singapore; provides an environment with a mission to support children and youth to grow into a positive, independent and responsible adults.

By infusing the garden with 'Kampung Spirit' elements, the Little Edible Garden @ IJ Village aims to support the IJ Village’s children's activities through an accessible space with multiple entry points with a generically symmetrical space, promoting a sense of orderliness and understanding of spatial relationships through providing a clear and organized structure that is easier for children to navigate and engage with.

Children are able to interact with the garden in a multi-sensory manner, while growing alongside the different plants by taking part in garden maintenance task such as watering and weeding, which leads them to develop their interpersonal skills with educators and peers as well as promote physical fitness and motor skills.

This build and programme was supported by Lam Soon Singapore.
