Jamiyah Halfway House (Darul Islah)

Community (Healthcare, Social Services)

At Jamiyah Halfway House (Darul Islah), an existing outdoor space was revitalised into a Healing Garden designed to support well-being, accessibility and everyday engagement with nature.

Brought to life through the generous sponsorship of ST Telemedia, the garden was enhanced with edible planting beds and improved pathways, enabling residents to safely and comfortably spend time outdoors.

The planting palette was carefully curated to provide both sensory interest and practical use. Species such as dog fennel, Spanish shawl, rosemary and wild pepper introduce colour, fragrance and texture, while familiar edibles including kangkong, chilli and sweet potato leaves allow for simple harvesting and interaction.

The garden also serves as a platform for social connection, bringing together residents, staff, volunteers and visitors through shared activities and everyday encounters with nature.
